Residents invited to see Hilsea Lido design plans at drop-in events

Residents are invited to meet Portsmouth City Council’s Hilsea Lido project team at one of three drop-in events in March, to find out about the designs for the lido.

Last year, using residents’ feedback from a community engagement process, eight pledges were put in place for Hilsea Lido, which were shared with contractors to incorporate with the design plans.

The eight pledges are:

  • Open the lido more often for everyone to enjoy
  • Explore the potential of heating at least part of the pool
  • Include a food and drink facility
  • Provide play equipment and a diverse range of activities and events
  • Make the lido welcoming and accessible to everyone
  • Improve shower, toilet and changing facilities
  • Create a well-maintained, attractive, and fun facility
  • To make the lido as affordable as possible
  • The design plans are now ready to be shared with the local community.

Councillor Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, and Economic Development said: “Hilsea Lido is such an important part of our city, so we are pleased to see the plans coming together to deliver a much-needed attraction and venue for our visitors and residents.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their thoughts with us and would encourage you to visit the team on one of the dates specified to hear about their plans.”

Come and meet the team, see the designs, and ask your questions:

  • Monday 4 March – Hilsea Lido Blue Lagoon from 4pm to 6pm
  • Tuesday 5 March – Cosham Library from 12pm to 2pm
  • Thursday 7 March – Northend Library from 12pm to 2pm.
