Something for everyone this May at The D-Day Story

The D-Day Story is hosting an array of events this May, from marking Victory in Europe Day to activities for half term.

On Sunday 10 May, the museum will be celebrating VE Day with performances from singer Nathalie Gunn, who will be returning to perform songs from the 1930s and 1940s.

There will be the opportunity to learn how to Lindy Hop with the Swing Dance Company, and the museum’s Operation: Spies and Lies family trail will be available.

Visitors can join Mrs Cox, who has put herself in charge of organising a local street party to celebrate the end of the Second World War, but now needs help making the decorations. Join her as she plans the party and make your own VE Day paper chains, posters, hats and badges to take home.

And the VE Day inspired activities continue in half term in The Discovery Hub. On Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 May, craft activities will include making pin wheels, peg dolls and toy airplanes. There will be toys and games for under fives, and Second World War uniforms for all the family to try on.

From Saturday 16 May until Sunday 7 June, discover the incredible facts and personal stories behind 6 June 1944, with the D-Day Detectives family trail. Complete it for a chance to enter in a prize draw.

All activities are included in the museum admission price and annual pass. The Discovery Hub is included in the museum ticket, or £3 per child if not visiting the museum.
